The Gods GODS OF LIGHT: Tiew who maintains the good order Balder who works for the good order and makes a good ruler and is most kind to us Nanna who nurses those in need, and turns no-one away GODS OF AIR: Woden who has special intuition and reasoning and is foremost in knowledge. Thor who is strong and helps us in practical ways Freya who has special intuition and reasoning and is foremost in knowledge. GODS OF WATER: Frigga who oversees the provision of our daily needs and keeps frith in the community Wayland who is a skilled craftsman GODS OF EARTH: Frey concerned with the fruitfulness of the earth. Sif who looks after the young, animals and plants and helps provide our food GODS OF DARKNESS: Samael the opponent of Balder, who is filled with lust and emotion, but blind to the well-being of others. Loki the opponent of Woden, who cares little for others but is fond of trickery. The Female Tetrad Freya represents the young or unmarried woman who is free, active and has special abilities in charms. Nanna represents those who care for others outside the call of family. Sif represents the young mother, concerned with nurture and practical daily tasks. Frigga represents the older woman, with greater wisdom, who sees further and takes on responsibilities in the wider community More on the gods Tiew – “Order & Justice” Tiew is skillful and full of righteous spirit. He is dedicated to promoting and maintaining good order in the world around him. He loves those who are truthful and act righteously according to Arta. He hates those who are deceitful and wicked and go against Arta. Tiew seeks to advance the Ashura by promoting the influence of those who act honestly and demoting the influence of those who are manipulative and wicked. He will do this in the way that is most fitting to the situation. Balder – “The Listener, The Light, The Teacher, The Healer” Balder is beautiful, wise, sensitive and self-less. Balder is ever-ready to listen to our individual stories. When he listens his own soul is filled with the feelings of our own. If there is distress then he obediently seeks to take action to remedy the situation. Balder keeps his heart open to all, whatever their pain or their wickedness. He never gives up on anyone. Balder is a teacher and guardian of good moral behaviour. He seeks to encourage us on a good path in a way that is right for us. He encourages the good spirits within us and fights against the demons. Nanna – “Nurse” Woden - "The Wizard" Woden is a Wizard - a Wise Man. He is dedicated to discovering the underlying truth of reality and making the best use of that knowledge for our benefit and the benefit of the Holos (the whole of creation within his influence). Thor – “Self and Growth” Thor is a spontaneous, irrepressible, unselfconscious being who loves life and is ready to immerse himself in the world as he finds it. He is always testing himself and getting involved in adventures. He is a strong and good-natured fellow as long as you deal fairly with him, and if you come across his path he will likely try and help you out. Freya – “Freedom, Charm, Magic” Frigg – “The Mother and Provider” Frigga is always busy providing us with what we need for a good life, the physical necessities of food, water, shelter, absence of harmful pollutants, energy-forms or predators. Frigga also provides us with a spiritual environment that contains such possibilities as comfort, companionship, challenge and novelty. Wayland – “Craft and Technology” Wayland is a blacksmith, a craftsman, engineer and technologist. He has an aptitude for the mechanical and logical. He can make a simple tool or build a complex system out of many parts. Frey – “” Sif – “” |
