Neo-SocialismA Neo-Socialist seeks to reform the socialist tradition, going back to fundamentals and refreshing it so that it can do the job it needs to do today.Socialism is an ideology based around the idea of 'alliance'. The idea is that when the good order of life is disturbed by abusive predators then people must band together to push away the abusers and tyrants and restore a good life. Socialists values every person as an end in themselves. They think the well-being of everybody is important - and in principle - equally important. Socialists are also sceptical of social traditions - ie. of ways of thinking and acting that are seen as the normal ways, but which have come about through the influence of the predatory elite in order to discourage people from challenging their power. This does not mean that all traditions must be discarded, but existing norms and assumptions should be looked at critically to judge whether they are really serving the people, or not. A good socialist, especially the intellectual, the one who is thinking creatively about how to order society has to meet demanding requirements. They need to be able to think creatively, to be able to reason. Yet, importantly they also need to be in touch with the wisdom of their instincts, of the lived experiences of others and of the people of the past carried to us in tradition. A socialist needs a degree of humility to accept they may not have the perfect answer to every question, and to keep working to improve their understanding and beliefs about what makes for good action. The Panarchist AgendaPanarchism shares the same fundamental goal as traditional Socialism - which is to create a world for the benefit of the majority of the people in it, rather than just for a few. However self-styled modern Panarchists are willing to critically examine the ideas and approaches that have become associated with the word Socialism, and consider afresh what is the best approach to work towards the ultimate goal. The Panarchist agenda can be split into two major goals: The first is to increase the power of Panthalics - those working for the common good - as set against the Despotics - those who are only concerned for the power and well-being of their own small group, and are happy to use and abuse the majority of the population for their own ends. The Panthalic AlliancePanarchists strive to create a Global Panthalic Power (GPP) which is strong enough to take on the Global Despotic Power (GDP). For a Panthalic Power operating in just a small territory of the planet would inevitably be attacked by the GDP from its bases outside that territory. However the peoples of the world are diverse and often struggle to collaborate with each other because of differences in their cultural ways of behaving and sense of identity. Socialists in the past have tried to create a common international socialist identity to unite everybody, but this has had limited success. The alternative strategy is to develop large numbers of smaller movements, which each individually have a stronger common culture and identity. This might be because their members share a common religious or national identity. If this approach is followed then there is still the problem of keeping all the movements collaborating productively with each other , rather than turning their energies on fighting each other to mutual destruction. There is no simple answer to these issues. Nevertheless the approach we promote is to encourage the development of national pantothalic forces in each country of the world, and for these to collaborate with each other internationally, especially in regions of the world which share cultural roots ('civilizational areas').
