Types of Autarchist Autarchy means 'self-rule' or freedom. You are Free if you are able to muster the resources together to get what you want - whatever that is. A people may be judged Free if they are able to get together and decide what kind of place they wanted to live in - and then go ahead and create that kind of place. Autarchists vary by how they define who or where is 'us' that should be free. Village Autarchists - They want to create autonomous village communities, arranging their own way of life, growing their own food, looking after their own affairs, and protecting themselves from harmful influence from outside. Ideo-cultural Autarchists - They want to create organised communities of people bound together by a shared philosophy , cultural tradition or religion but not necessarily all living in the same place. Typically they will seek their own shared community buildings, workshops, social activities, child-care facilities etc. And as Autarchists they want to be able to decide how all this is run for themselves. Territorial Autarchists - They identify with a particular territorial area - which might be a city, a county, a country-region, a country or larger. They want to see this being fully self-governing with their own parliament, legal system, banking system, police force, social care provision etc - and raising their own taxes.
